Make your very own huggable Elmo with my free crochet pattern!
This is my first one I've ever written up, so if you have any questions or find any errors, please let me know. Gauge is not important for this pattern, and with my 4.0 mm hook, my Elmo sits at about 9.5 inches (23 cm) tall.

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing onto the white eye.
Nose:
In orange yarn
Rnd 1: ch 6, sc 4, sc 3 on the last chain. Turn to the other side of the
chain foundation, sc 4, sc 3 on the last chain. Sl st on the first st of the
round and ch 1. (14)
Rnd 2: * sc 4, inc, inc, inc* Repeat once more. Sl st on the first st of
the round and ch 1. (20)
Rnd 3: *sc 4, (inc, sc 1) x 3* Repeat once more. Sl st on the first st
of the round and ch 1. (26)
Rnd 4: *sc 4, (inc, sc 2) x 3*. Repeat once more. Sl st on the first st
of the round and ch 1. (32)
Rnd 5 – 7: sc all around. Sl st on the first st of the round and ch 1.

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing onto the head just below the
eyes.
Mouth:
In black yarn
Rnd 1: ch 20, sc 19, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 2: dec, sc 15, dec, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 3: dec, sc 13, dec, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 4: dec, sc 11, dec, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 5: sc across, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 6: dec, sc 9, dec, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 7: dec, sc 7, dec, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 8: dec, sc 1, hdc 3, sc 1, dec.
Sc all around the mouth border. Fasten off and leave long end for
sewing.
Finger: make 8
In red yarn
Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
Rnd 2 – 5: sc around (6).
Fasten off.
Hand:
In red yarn
Rnd 1: sc 3 on the first finger, join to the second finger by sc 1,
continue sc 5, join back to first finger with sc 1 and continue sc 2. (12)
Rnd 2 - 5: sc around (12)
Rnd 6: *inc, sc 5* repeat (14)
Rnd 7: sc around (14)
Rnd 8: *dec, sc 5* repeat (12)
Rnd 9 – 18: sc around (12)

Do the same for another hand.
Attach two more fingers at the side.
Feet:

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing. Attach to body.
To shape the toes, thread tapestry needle with red yarn. Insert needle
in and out of sole through foot to form toes, pull tightly. Secure yarn and
hide the yarn in the foot. See photo below as guide.
